The Influences Of Local Hip Hop

By Tammie Caldwell

One of the most ear catchy genres of music is hip hop. This is produced by making rhythmic sound with lyrical rhymes that is usually about rapping. This has many subcultures since the time it first came out. The breakdance, which is a form of urban dancing with a little mix of acrobatic movements, is its subculture since the beats that make breakdances move this way are usually taken from this genre.

The instruments used are turntables and percussion. Later on, beatboxing was discovered, which is done entirely from the mouth of a person. This alone can accompany the chanting or rapping of a rapper or even a song. The latest beats these days are taken from synthesizers. One example is dubstep. Local hip hop Fort Lauderdale, FL is one of the places any urban music lover can go to.

Contrary to the first impression that the genre is generally about rapping, it is actually very flexible. It can mix with different genres as well. In addition, it is not merely about making music, it is also about getting into the music and getting influenced by it. DJs and turntable scratchers do not necessarily compose music. They simply enhance them.

This rich culture was first discovered by the African Americans. As you can see, they are the ones dominating in the scene. Until they were joined by some white hip hop enthusiasts like Eminem who became the biggest White rapper in America.

In combining this with other music genres, like Rhythm and Blues, it is incorporated with a chorus in between chanted verses. The songs are very phenomenal because of the theme being used. They are very youthful as well. Some of them are using old songs and do remixes. For some, when you talk about remix, it will not be complete without rap.

It was even mixed with rock or metal early in two thousands. Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Crazy Town, and a lot more, were the names that anyone usually drops when asked about rap metal. This is another subculture of both hip hop and metal music. But this has become controversial, especially because of the lyrics and the influence of the artists.

In the early two thousands, rap metal boomed. It was the genre that has been introduced in the late nineties by Limp Bizkit. However, some lyrics are really obscene and that they are bad influences to the youth. But many claim that it actually just depends on the listener.

But this is a good form of expressionism. This is one of the most artistic ways to exercise freedom of speech. Many have been sued because of anti government lyrics but they always get away because of the freedom of speech clause.

Despite this fact, they are still being supported by the music industry. They are sometimes sued because of their offensive lyrics but musicians are usually protected by the freedom of speech clause. There are others that think they are the bravest and boldest people they know so they idolize them.
